🏗️ Self-build profile for candidates

People looking for work can now choose to build their own cord profile when they join cord, instead of having it built for them.

Project: 🔨 Profile self-build Type: 🚀 Feature User: 💁🏻‍♀️ People

Key changes

People looking for work can now choose to build their own cord profile when they join cord, instead of having it built for them. This means

  1. People can get direct access more quickly, because they don’t have to wait for their profile to be built for them.
  1. People have complete control over their cord profile before companies see it.

Why?

Allowing candidates to opt to build their own profile solves three core problems:

  1. When sign up volume is high, there was nothing much for candidates to do while waiting for their profile to be built. Candidates now can build their profile themselves, speeding up the process and meaning they just need to wait for their profile to be reviewed (which takes much less time than a full profile build).
  1. Building their profile themselves allows people to present themselves on cord in the way that they want. Profiles are all still reviewed by our team, which maintains quality for companies.
  1. Profiles that are self-built likely to have more information and it can result in better quality conversations between companies and candidates.

What?

Candidates now have 2 options:

  1. Waiting for cord’s profile builders (PBs) to build their profiles
    1. This is the same as before, but as soon as a PB is assigned to a profile, the candidate no longer has the self-build option.
  1. Self-build their profiles
    1. As soon as candidates start building their profile, PBs can’t see the profiles until candidates request review.
    2. Candidates can go back in the profile build queue, or profiles will be automatically in the queue if candidates don’t complete self-build within 24 hours.
    3. Once the profile is reviewed, it will go live!

How?

Thank you to the project squad that dedicated their energy to this project - David (BE), Katerina (Design), Jiyeon (FE) and Ania (Trust & Safety and Support).

What’s next?

We’ll be spending some time mid-May to further improve usability of this feature, to encourage more people to build their profile and reduce drop-offs.
