Key changes

Notion image

Navigating through positions is now much smoother and more interactive.

  • Arrows to navigate between positions
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Swipe on mobile

Why?

Previously, navigating through positions was not interactive and required too many clicks. The options to hide or save a position were not obvious meaning many users did not know these features were available.

What?

Here’s what this release includes:

Renaming:

  • Hide icon: now becomes “Not right” (thumbs down).
  • Save icon: now becomes “Like” (thumbs up).
  • “Saved” page: renamed “Liked”.
  • “Hidden” page: renamed “Not right”.

Navigation:

  • Next & previous arrows: Click the arrows to move between positions.
  • Keyboard shortcuts: Use to navigate.

Interactions:

To like positions:

  • Click the thumbs up button
  • Use keyboard shortcut L

To mark as “Not right”:

  • Click the thumbs down button
  • Use keyboard shortcut N

Apply to a position:

  • Click the paper aeroplane button
  • Use keyboard shortcut A

Scroll through position:

  • Use the mouse scroll
  • Use keyboard shortcuts

Animations:

  • Next position:
  • Current position moves out to the left, next position moves in from the right.
  • Current button overlay moves out to the bottom, next button overlay moves in from the bottom.
  • Previous position:
  • Current position moves out to the right, previous position moves in from the left.
  • Current button overlay moves out to the bottom, next button overlay moves in from the bottom.
  • Liking a position:
  • A fun animation with small thumbs up icons will appear.

What’s next?

We’re gathering feedback from users to understand how we can improve the interactions. From feedback so far, we know that the most important next step is to add onboarding, so that users understand the purpose of the interactions and that keyboard shortcuts are available.

In the longer-term, we hope to use data from which positions a user is interacting with to improve the relevancy of their results.
